The Moggill Marathon Committee was formed after David Ember and Emil Schoeman created their own ‘Moggill Marathon’ event when the Brisbane Marathon 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic. The committee is made up of a group of local community members and is an initiative of the Lions Club of Brisbane West .Inc.
They recognised there is a keen interest in running in the area and wanted to have a key event that highlights the beautiful area that is Moggill by providing an annual community event that can continue to grow and support local community.
We welcome the input of the running and local community, please contact us if you want to be involved at hello@moggillmarathon.com.au
Professional Traffic Management has been secured - there will be NO road closures and no impact to residents on the day.
Last year we were fortunate to contribute proceeds from the event to Bravery Box (supporting children and teens through cancer treatment) and 11 local community groups. This year, with your contribution, we are hoping to do the same, and fingers crossed for some great weather on the day too.
We want to provide residents with reassurance that there are no full road closures for this event and residents will be able to leave and return to their properties at all times.
The event is being managed by professional traffic management, the Moggill State Emergency Service (SES) with support from Queensland Police Service (QPS), Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Brisbane City Council (BCC).
The primary focus of the day will be to ensure the safety of everyone involved and to minimise the impact on the local community. Council officers will be in attendance to ensure compliance with local laws.
We ask that you exercise caution for the runners participating in the event, with only minor delays of a few minutes could be expected, if any. Please share this message within your network to help ensure everyone is well informed.

2023 Wrap-Up
Thanks to the fantastic contribution of our participants, volunteers, and sponsors, we are extremely proud to announce the Poolwerx Moggill Marathon 2023 raised an incredible $22,000, which will be allocated towards initiatives that benefit both the courageous children of our beneficiary Bravery Box, and various community groups providing essential services in the region. This dedication and generosity from all involved, who went above and beyond (and had a lot of fun in doing so!), will help create a positive impact on the lives of those in need and services provided within our communities.
Of the funds raised, a substantial portion, amounting to $12,000, will be donated to Bravery Box. This remarkable organisation provides support and encouragement to children facing challenging circumstances through cancer treatment. The Poolwerx Moggill Marathon is delighted to share that $1,780 of this amount, was generously donated by the runners themselves as part of the registration process, thank you.
The additional $10,000 raised from the event will be distributed among schools and community groups that played an instrumental role in supporting the event and who also provide vital services to the Brisbane area. These donations enable the growth, wellbeing and development of children and support for the key services these groups provide more broadly to the community.
