President’s summary
"There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about." Margaret J. Wheatley
For over 75 years in Australia, Lions members have been committed to improving the lives of others by serving the communities in which we live.
In 2023, the Lions Club of Brisbane West set ourselves the goal of listening to our community. Rather than making the assumption that “we know” we wanted to establish and explore our community’s innovative ideas and local knowledge on how they wanted to enhance their community life.
“We serve” is the motto Lions members live by and in order to serve our community, we had to understand.
In 2023 we established our Community Infrastructure and Wellbeing Committee with the intent to deepen the club’s understanding of local matters and to give direction on how best we could be of service.
We want to make a difference and make real change by supporting the community’s voice when advocating to all levels of government on how we can improve our community’s wellbeing and liveability. By creating space for resident-led, inclusive discussions we are supporting residents in setting their own direction, unique to their own needs.
Recognising that what’s important in one location may be different in another, the ‘Kenmore and Chapel Hill’ community conversation is the third in a series of conversations the Lions has held to understand the needs of the community.
Finally, I would like to take the time to thank our Community Infrastructure and Wellbeing Committee for their exceptional dedication to listening and understanding the community’s voice and I am pleased to commend this report to you.

Karana Downs/Mt Crosby/Kholo & Lake Manchester - Conversation Presentation
One of the results after the Community Infrastructure & Wellbeing Committee held conversations with Moggill, Bellbowrie, Anstead, Karana Downs and Mt Crosby was the need for another Public High School for Brisbane West. This petition has been prepared on behalf of residents who also support the idea.
The petition has since closed and the response from the Minister for Education can be found here
